Death in the Rain

Death in the Rain is Book 1 of Andrew D. Levine's Kabir Joshi & Ananya Rao Mysteries, a Mumbai crime thriller where murder, money, political influence, and institutional corruption collide.

When Riya Mehta, Mumbai's Deputy Chief Minister, is found dead at the Gateway of India, authorities are prepared to call it suicide. Investigative journalist Kabir Joshi refuses to accept the official explanation. His questions lead him into a dangerous investigation involving hidden financial records, powerful political interests, and institutions determined to protect their secrets.

As Kabir follows the evidence, his path intersects with Ananya Rao, a Mumbai Police officer caught between professional duty and the pursuit of justice. Together, they confront a world where influence can silence witnesses, official conclusions can conceal uncomfortable truths, and exposing corruption carries a personal cost.

Set against the atmosphere of monsoon-soaked Mumbai, Death in the Rain combines Indian noir, investigative journalism, financial intrigue, and political corruption in a mystery grounded in contemporary India.

The newly published revised edition introduces the characters and themes that continue throughout the Kabir Joshi & Ananya Rao Mysteries.

For readers of international crime fiction, Indian murder mysteries, investigative thrillers, and political noir.
